Waiting list

If you wish to be included on the waiting list for a plot please get in touch. As a new member you will be able to rent a half plot. The current waiting time is 18-24 months.

The Lettings Officer endeavours to match a plot to an individuals experience and capability, depending on the types of plot available.

Annual rents

The annual rents cover from 1st January to 31st December. In practice most plots carry on seamlessly from one year to the next, but it should not be assumed that this is a rolling contract.

Invoices are issued mid November with a deadline for payment by the 1st week in December. If the rent is not paid by the set date a notification of termination letter is issued and the plot is let to a new tenant for the following year.

Concessions are applicable where a plotholder can provide proof of being in receipt of the State Pension.

For more information please see the Waiting List Policy.

Associate membership

Our Associate Membership scheme enables anyone who wants to be a part of our community, and agrees to our Objects to be a non-voting member. If the Associate Member wishes to garden one of the allotment plots they have to be given specific permission by the Trustees to do so. However, they can take advantage of all the communal areas, can volunteer to help in the public access areas and will receive all information emails.

Benefits of having an allotment

Everyone gets something different out of the Bustardthorpe experience, but some of the key aspects are - peace, tranquility, down-time, time in the fresh air, social interaction, having a garden area which is not possible at home and the satisfaction of eating home grown produce.

The physical and mental health benefits are immense!
